Phase 1: Construction of cold store extension and packing hall
Phase 2: Design and build of cold store extension
Our approach:
Less than three years after completing a cold store extension and packing hall, Ardo UK approached Chalcroft directly to develop the design and submit planning for Phase 2. To ensure Chalcroft's proposal was commercially viable, Ardo UK enlisted Project Quantity Surveyor (PQS) support.
Challenges and solutions:
To minimise the impact of the building on the surrounding Kent downs, the exterior grey cladding of the building blends with the typical cloudy British skies. Chalcroft ensured a seamless finish between the phased extensions was achieved.
The building fabric was carefully sealed to ensure a consistent temperature of -22°C is maintained, preventing the creation of ice by moisture entering the building. The dock shelters form a tight seal around the trailers on the loading bays to retain temperature and avoid moisture.
